Increase your 'sexy' brown fat by exercising in the cold

Cold water swimming regulars are convinced of the health benefits. The chief medical officer at the Australian Antarctic Division’s Polar Medicine Unit, Dr Jeff Ayton, agreed regular cold-water swimming could be beneficial, but needed to be undertaken correctly.”The theory is that regular cold-water swimming reactivates the production of brown fat,” Dr Ayton said.Brown fat is present in infants but regresses in adulthood. (ABC News: Fiona Blackwood)
“The brown fat is cold responsive, and the thought is that that may have healthy protective benefits such as decreasing your blood sugars which may protect against diabetes and obesity,” he said.Brown fat is referred to as good fat because it burns calories to generate heat.”There is two types of fat, white fat and brown fat.”Brown fat is the thermogenic or heat-producing fat, which has got a lot of energy cells in it, mitochondria, and it’s got a lot of blood vessels and that produces heat,” he said. However, attempts to generate more of the good stuff with cold water plunges came with a warning.”If you suddenly immerse yourself in cold water, your blood pressure can go up, you can put more strain on your heart and there is a risk of heart attack or sudden funny rhythms or even a stroke.”But for the WOSSAs and others who swear by it, the warnings about cold-water swimming are like water off a duck’s back.Water temperatures in and around Hobart over winter can be below 10 degrees Celsius.”We get in the water and it’s totally freezing and you get out and shake, but after a hot coffee and a hot shower you just feel amazing,” enthusiast Stuart Tanner said. (ABC News: Fiona Blackwood)
ABC Tasmania newsreader Peter Gee said “the first 30 seconds you go like the clappers”.”We don’t really swim at Olympic speed after that,” he added.Swimmer Alastair Norris said he had heard of the “fat-burning capabilities, especially after four minutes” and said the regular ritual was good for the mind and well as the waistline.”It gets you up and really started for the beginning of the day,” he said.Long after the Dark Mofo hordes have dressed and left the beach, the WOSSAs and other cold water devotees will be taking the plunge, deep into the winter months. For most of us, swimming in Hobart’s River Derwent in the middle of winter would be, at best, a one-off dare for Dark Mofo. But for those in the know, the practice of regularly subjecting oneself to a chilled shock to the system is the secret to starting the day right and longer-term health benefits. For a group of swimmers known as the Winter Ocean and Sea Swimming Association, or WOSSAs, it is a once-a-week ritual, albeit in bathers.Former Tasmanian premier David Bartlett is a member of the group and, despite being keen on cold water swimming, has resisted taking part in the annual nude swim for the Dark Mofo festival.”I’ve come to the conclusion that a thousand Tasmanians don’t want to see their former premier naked on the beach, so that’s why I come here.”Mr Bartlett and his fellow WOSSAs gather on a Taroona beach, just south of the city, every Sunday and take the plunge. But don’t just take an ex-politician’s word for it. Animal catcher performs CPR to revive frog regurgitated by snake

Frog returns home after flying 1,000km for life-saving treatment

He used the same technique in an attempt to save a blue-tongue lizard three months earlier.Mr Chapel said he would release Lucky as soon as his injuries healed.”If he’s potentially snake food in the future, that’s something I may not be able to help him with again but he’s definitely going to have another chance out there.” (Supplied: Jamie Chapel)
It’s not the first time Mr Chapel has tried chest compressions to revive an animal. (Supplied: Jamie Chapel)
Determined to save Lucky’s life, Mr Chapel flipped the amphibian on its back and administered CPR to its limp body with his index finger.”I started to give it chest compressions to get some air in it — then it kicked.”I couldn’t believe it myself to be honest, it just came back to life.”The next 24 hours were touch and go for Lucky. The frog needed pain medication and antibiotic cream to treat deep cuts on its back.”At the moment he’s eating wood cockroaches and crickets, and the other night I gave him a treat of a little pinkie mouse after I finished feeding the baby pythons,” Mr Chapel said.”He loves it.”

Lucky was covered in mucous and had deep cuts on his back when he was found. A Townsville snake catcher who revived the regurgitated body of a green tree frog says the creature will be ready for release soon.Jamie Chapel told ABC Radio Brisbane he was called to a property to remove a common tree snake earlier this month when he found the frog, nicknamed Lucky, in a bad way.It was 20 centimetres down the snake’s gullet, but the reptile regurgitated its prey as Mr Chapel approached.”He looked like a squashed frog full of mucous,” Mr Chapel said.”As I’ve gone to remove the frog, its leg twitched.”

The Swiss Alps are a far cry from the APY Lands in far north South Australia. (Rohan Thomson)
Amata artist Nyunmita Burton said she had loved working with the other women to create the biggest painting she had ever done.”We’re a long way from the families — I’ve got families at Ernabella and I never go and visit them but the workshops bring us together,” she said.”And I’m happy to see them and working together as a family and putting all our stories into the paintings.”Putting the stories together and making strong people to live strong, our people, our children to be happy.”We make them proud inside — in their hearts they feel happy.”Like the women, male artists from every community in the APY Lands will meet later this year to collaborate on a piece of art for the gallery. (Arnd Wiegmann: Reuters)
“Switzerland, being in the middle of Europe, the idea is not only to cater for the Swiss public but the European public in general.”The gallery will predominantly feature art from the APY Lands.Mr Petitjean travelled from Switzerland to the remote outback region this week to meet with the Indigenous artists whose work will be exhibited when it opens in June next year.”We are enjoying it very much here, it’s fantastic to be here with people who live in this country and the paintings of course that are a reflection of this country,” he said.”In a year’s time, when the paintings will be on display on the walls of that Swiss institution, one can only dream of the country on which it is based.”This is the first of two major paintings — one by women artists, one by men artists … which will involve the men from the same APY Lands communities.”

Artists work on the large painting going to Switzerland. The work of Aboriginal artists from South Australia’s APY Lands will feature prominently when Europe’s first gallery dedicated to Indigenous Australian art opens next year.More than 30 female Aboriginal artists from every community in the APY Lands this week travelled to Amata, about 14 kilometres south of the Northern Territory border, to paint a massive five-metre by three-metre piece of art for the gallery. It is the first time Anangu artists have banded together like this to collaborate on a painting and share stories.Ernabella artist Alison Milyika Carroll said it gave all the women a rare opportunity to learn from each other and share happy times together.”It’s good for all the other ladies from the APY Lands to come together and do this big painting and putting all the stories in one big canvas,” Carroll said.”We sit around and we do this painting and we talk and we laugh and it’s been really good.”We’re all happy that it’s going overseas to Switzerland and all the ladies are so happy for what we’ve done.”Last month, Swiss art collector Berengere Primat bought a new gallery in the rural Alpine town of Lens which she will dedicate to the artwork of Indigenous Australians and name Foundation Opale.Clear need for an Indigenous art gallery in EuropeGallery curator Georges Petitjean said interest in Australian Aboriginal art was growing rapidly in Europe and the need for a specific gallery was clear.”For the moment there is no museum or no institution that is focused on Indigenous Australian art [in Europe] so this new foundation will be dedicated solely to Indigenous Australian art,” he said.

PRETTYMUCH – Summer On You lyrics

[Intro: Brandon]
Baby, I ain’t got no money
All I got is time
And imma spend that time on you
But when they pay me
I can buy the sunshine
Take you away, we’ll drink champagne
While holed up in a room
[Verse 1: Zion]
Darling I’ve been working all week
I got so much on my plate
Oh, it’s late and pouring/getting boring
Although my boss is an a-hole
That’s when you call me (brrp, brrp)
Said you’ve been making a plan
To hit the road with me
I’ll pick you up after eight
[Pre-Chorus: All & Edwin]
We’ll hit the coast on the late night
Make love ’til daylight
I love it when you play with my hair
You know it feels so nice
And I’ll do what you like
Naked in the moonlight
We don’t care if we are broke
When love is all we own, I’m saying
[Chorus]
Baby, I ain’t got no money
All I got is time
And imma spend that time on you
But when they pay me
I can buy the sunshine
Take you away, we’ll drink champagne
While holed up in a room
And I’ll spend my summer on
You-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
And I’ll spend my summer on
You-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
[Verse 2: Austin]
I’m saying hey babe
Two jobs on minimum wage
Although the rent’s late
Still got a smile on my face
We ain’t got the sunshine
But we got hearts in our chest
To feel the love like this
Stronger than anyone else
[Pre-Chorus: All, Edwin]
We’ll hit the drive-thru
Like Lil’ Wayne
We ain’t got no platinum chains
But hand-me-downs are all the rage
So let me spend this pocket change
We’ll drink beer like it’s champagne
Stay out kissin’ in the rain
We don’t care if we are broke
If love is we all own, I’m saying
[Chorus]
Baby, I ain’t got no money (I ain’t got no money)
All I got is time
And imma spend that time on you
But when they pay me
I can buy the sunshine
Take you away, we’ll drink champagne
While holed up in a room
And I’ll spend my summer on
You-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
And I’ll spend my summer on
You-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
[Bridge: Nick & Brandon]
Oh, baby we ain’t got no money
All we got is love
But I know that can see us through
It might sound crazy
Bought a week of sunshine
We can stay and sip cold beer
While holed up in a room
That’s how I’ll spend my summer on you (my summer on you baby)
[Chorus]
Baby, I ain’t got no money (I ain’t got no money)
All I got is time
And imma spend that time on you
But when they pay me
I can buy the sunshine
Take you away, we’ll drink champagne
While holed up in a room
And I’ll spend my summer on
You-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh
And I’ll spend my summer on
You-ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh

Prince – The Marrying Kind Lyrics

[Verse 1]
If you leave her now
You are never going to see her again
Never
Now she’s going to need a shoulder to cry on
She’s going to need a friend
She’s going to need a pillow case
Something to put those tears on
And I’ve got some purple satin laces
One second later than the second you’re gone
She’s going to miss you at first
But then she’s going to buy me things
That’s when I’m going to a lay her
Across my piano stool and sing to her
[Chorus]
Honey, I tried too tell him
That you were the marrying kind
A faithful one-man woman
The best he would ever find
I guess he wasn’t trying too hear that
So there ain’t nothing left to say
I tried too tell him if you run to me
I won’t run away
[Verse 2]
If you leave her now
You’ll never get another glimpse
I’m going to lace her with enough ice to recap the polls
There might be another solar eclipse
She’s going to find
Bath water hot enough to be touched
I’m going to put her on the same diet Missy went on
You know she eat too much
Tonight, she’s going to miss you at first
But then she’ll get used too me
All of the tricks I would try
To make her take this ring and make love to me
[Chorus]
Honey, I tried too tell him
That you were the marrying kind
A faithful one-man woman
The best he would ever find
I guess he wasn’t trying too hear that
So there ain’t nothing left to say
I tried too tell him if you run to me
I won’t run away
[Outro]
Run away
Don’t run away

We did the thing last night
Now I’m waking by your side

Something about this prey
‘Cause baby by now I’ve been saying

And you’re so fine but I can’t be saying
[Pre-Chorus]
It only took one night
Suddenly now I’m addicted
Only no one wanna fix it

Journey – Stone In Love Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Those crazy nights, I do remember in my youth
I do recall, those were the best times, most of all
In the heat with a blue jean girl
Burning love comes once in a lifetime
She found me singing by the rail road tracks
Took me home, we danced by the moonlight
[Chorus]
Those summer nights are calling
Stone in love
Can’t help myself, I’m falling
Stone in love
[Verse 2]
Old dusty roads, led to the river
Running slow
She pulled me down, ooh, and in clover
We’d go around, yeah
In the heat with a blue jean girl
Burning love comes once in a lifetime
Oh, the memories never fade away
Golden girl, I’ll keep you forever
[Chorus]
Those summer nights are calling
Stone in love
Can’t help myself, I’m falling
Stone in love
[Chorus]
Those summer nights are calling
Stone in love
Can’t help myself, I’m falling
Stone in love
[Outro]
(Stone in love)
Stone in love
Stone in love
Stone in love
Stone in love

Stevie Wonder – Smile Please Lyrics

[Verse 1]
A smiling face is an Earth-like star
A frown can’t bring out the beauty that you are
Love within, and you’ll begin smiling
There are brighter days ahead
Don’t mess your face up with bitter tears
‘Cause life is gonna be what it is
It’s okay, please don’t delay from smiling
There are brighter days ahead
[Chorus]
Bum, bum bum ditti
Bum, bum bum ditti
Bum, bum bum ditti bum
Bum, bum bum ditti
Bum, bum bum ditti
Bum, bum bum ditti bum
[Verse 2]
A smiling face you don’t have to see
‘Cause it’s as joyful as a Christmas tree
Love within and you’ll begin smiling
There are brighter days ahead
Love’s not competing; it’s on your side
You’re in life’s picture, so why must you cry? So for a friend, please begin to smile, please
There are brighter days ahead, oh oh…
[Chorus]
Bum, bum bum ditti
Bum, bum bum ditti
Bum, bum bum ditti bum
Bum, bum bum ditti
Bum, bum bum ditti
Bum, bum bum ditti bum
(Please smile for me)
Bum, bum bum ditti
Bum, bum bum

Drake Bell – Call Me When You’re Lonely Lyrics

[Verse 1]
From the …
That’s when you stopped blowing me up
Telling me took them all now
Acting like you’ve got controller
Just when I thought that I had enough
That’s when I remembered you told

How could I ever ignore ya
[Pre-Chorus]
No …
Can always hit my phone up

Call me when you’re lonely baby

[Chorus]x2
Call me when you’re lonely baby
Call me when you’re lonely baby
You’re only call me when you’re lonely baby

‘Cause I know he loves ya
[Pre-Chorus]

Token – One Like Equals Lyrics

[Verse 1]
Uh, I deserve sympathy, I deserve rights
I deserve mommy that tuck me in at night
When I find out that life doesn’t owe me shit
Given that shit, I just wanna be liked
I just wanna be friends
I just want you to like me
I just feel like I’m lost
I just want you to find me
I know success is indefinite but I just want it to be likely
Like I just wanna be Kylie, cause
[Hook]
One like equals one care
And when it’s dark time one like equals one flare
And when the stocks rise one like equals one share
And when my mom dies one like equals one prayer, like
[Verse 2]
Lemme compare
My mommy told me when she was a kid she thinks she was really, really popular
But I don’t wanna just think that I’m popular
I wanna have more literal, tangible, fucking followers
Like, I really wanna see that shit
I really wanna be that shit
Put my phone on vibrate
Like, I really wanna feel that shit
I really wanna show my artistic side, my clever side
Bitch, get the fuck off my left, that’s my better side
Yup, I’m destined for success, let’s be honest
I’m chasing what successful people have in common
My life is a business I wanna own it and flaunt it
I can’t delete a flaw, it’s not a rumor till it’s a comment
And I’m not pretty until a stranger say it
And inside I might be sad but when I look in the mirror it doesn’t reflect it back so lemme take a snap
[Refrain]
I don’t wanna go unheard
I don’t wanna go unseen
I don’t wanna go outside
I’ll give it all to you, just give it all to me
I don’t wanna go unheard
I don’t wanna go unseen
I don’t wanna go outside
I’ll give it all to you, just give it all to me
I’ll give it all to you, just give it all to me
I’ll give it all to you, just promise me that
[Verse 3]
I promised her she looked good and she didn’t buy it
She went back to the bathroom, I backed up and peeked inside it
Never seen her so focused painting her face with a brush
You can paint anything you want if you’re creative enough
Today she painted happy, took like an hour fifty
She wanna be a model to finally be pretty
Shit, why can’t she do it? I could accept myself, by myself, but then you might forget me
[Refrain]
I don’t wanna go unheard
I don’t wanna go unseen
I don’t wanna go outside
I’ll give it all to you, just give it all to me
I don’t wanna go unheard
I don’t wanna go unseen
I don’t wanna go outside
I’ll give it all to you, just give it all to me
I’ll give it all to you, just give it all to me
I’ll give it all to you, just give it all to me She know how to pose
Daddy doesn’t get it, she say cause he’s old
He say it’s not a job unless it pays
So she got photographers to shoot her as she lays
On the bed, he gives her money and praise
Pop it out, post it up, get your money, ay
Oh, look at her body, oh she a model slash fitness slash motivation slash queen slash entrepreneur so do not call her a ho
The classy shit did not get the attention that she hoped and she knows
[Hook]
One like equals one care
And when it’s dark time one like equals one flare
And when the stocks rise one like equals one share
And when my mom dies one like equals one prayer, and
[Verse 4]
When the rent’s due one like equal couple grand
And the landlord is a hater if he doesn’t understand
Fuck it, man, look at all the love that I get on command
I don’t really be giving a fuck about what anybody saying to me anymore, look at me, mom, my life is a brand
My life is a prop, my life is a fluke
My life is a mine, I give it to you
I don’t even want it, I give it away
Look at my picture, don’t look at my face
I paint myself so happy, I finalize the brushes
I sell myself the good product, my private life is public
For everybody to see, everybody to stamp
Everybody except me, cause I don’t know who I am
Everybody just judge and not get mad about it
As if I’m not the single fucking person who allowed it
And when I feelin’ empty I’ll be everyone except me
If you just accept me
Why can’t you just accept me?

“It was a really happy time. It’s a place I can call my own so that’s a nice feeling.” I saw a bright sky, more open,” Ms Al-Dabbas said.”I really never admired or looked at the sky because we really never had those opportunities. (Supplied: Farah Al-Dabbas)
Ms Al-Dabbas now works as a student support worker at Diversitat, an organisation helping refugees and migrants in Geelong. “I could hear people saying you should go back because I would be fined, but I didn’t know and I didn’t care really, it’s my dad and they don’t know the story. We were putting our heads down trying to hide and never really able to look up. “Going out at night time was never a possibility for us.”

The family is making a new life in Australia. On Friday she will be the keynote speaker at a large Refugee Week gala dinner, one of many events planned across the country. Farah Al-Dabbas was 22 years old before she felt like her life could really begin. At the age of three her family left their home in Baghdad, displaced by war in Iraq, and then spent 17 years as refugees in Jordan and Malaysia. Her parents will be part of the team preparing dinner for the guests. While the family is still getting used to life in Australia — her parents are volunteers at an op shop and her brother is studying commerce at Deakin — for the first time they do not feel like they are living in the shadows.”It’s not my country yet but it’s a place I can call home,” she said.”It’s not a fear of saying I don’t know where I live because I don’t know if I’m going to be here or not. Her mother initially resisted but eventually relented and the pair were resettled in Geelong. They endured an agonising year-long wait to see if Ms Al-Dabbas’s father Abdul Kareem and older brother Fahad would be able to join them. But in 2016 they received news the pair had been granted a visa and they could finally resume life as a family.”Seeing them in the airport, there’s this line where you can’t cross but I crossed it. But they never knew whether they would be granted a happy ending or stuck in limbo forever.”All those years that passed I never had time to think about what my future would be like,” she said.”I never thought that I would have a future.”The family was advised that splitting their application might see Farah and her mother Siham Al-Naseri resettled faster. “Now I know that I live in Geelong, I live in Australia. I just saw my dad and I don’t know what happened,” Ms Al-Dabbas said. They were registered with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, added to the long list of people seeking safety in a new country. “When I came to Australia I saw stars for the first time. That’s when I felt that our life started.”Simple things like getting an ID card, being able to go into a bank or having keys to their own rental house were things they treasured.

At least half a dozen makeshift Ferris wheels have popped up in Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh.A UNHCR Bangladesh spokesperson said the rides were built in a number of camps where there are few play areas for children, including Kutupalong, which houses about 600,000 people. At least three people died and some 2,000 were displaced, ReliefWeb said. The weather continues to pose health and other risks to refugees, particularly women and children, according to ReliefWeb. June 20 is World Refugee Day, which commemorates the perseverance and plight of millions of refugees.ABC/wires Who are the Rohingya? “The kids are really, really enjoying them, they sound a bit creaky to me though,” said Julia Brothwell of the British Red Cross in a video.Ms Brothwell said the hand-powered wheels were built by members of the local community. The plight of Myanmar’s Rohingya refugees, a Muslim ethnic minority group rendered stateless in their homeland and detained in transit nations, is desperately bleak. The rides appeared during a break in monsoon rains that have wreaked havoc on Rohingya refugee camps in Bangladesh.Heavy rain in Cox’s Bazar caused destruction and mudslides to camps where hundreds of thousands of refugees are living.

The original Sir Samuel Way Adelaide Children’s Hospital was demolished in 1967.

That first building was demolished in 1967 yet the hospital today is as busy as ever.It provides a specialist facility for services in paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, neonatology, surgery, mental health and disability, rehabilitation and allied health.ABC Radio Adelaide’s Breakfast presenter Ali Clarke today broadcast live from the hospital’s foyer, where she caught up with some of the thousands of families and children who make use of the services each year. This included Catherina Llontop and her six-year-old son Enzo, who suffers from the rare genetic disorder progeria, the symptoms of which cause accelerate ageing.”It was hard to find out why at six months old he lost weight and his skin was different,” Ms Llontop said.”When he was one year old we were referred to the genetics department.”Enzo was eventually diagnosed with progeria, just one of three people with the disease in Australia, and the country’s only child.”It’s very rare and I think it was a challenge because he was always happy, cheeky, and so it was very hard to find out what was wrong with him,” Ms Llontop said. It was South Australia’s undesirable status of having the country’s highest infant mortality rate — about 180 deaths per 1,000 live births — that prompted the building of the Adelaide Women’s and Children’s Hospital.Today it is celebrating its 140th birthday. The foundation stone for what was originally called the Adelaide Children’s Hospital was laid on June 20, 1878, much to the dismay of several high-society residents at the time who believed it would disseminate disease. They were among 200 North Adelaide residents who signed a petition objecting to the hospital “for obvious reasons, and that it would necessarily not only interfere with the enjoyment of the property of the citizens residing in the vicinity but that it would be prejudicial to health also”. Much of it is organised by children’s entertainment and special events coordinator Sandy Keane, who has been working at the hospital for 22 years. Her job includes organising dress-up days for the hospital, such as May the 4th when staff dress as Star Wars characters — an event supported by Disney and Lucasfilm.”They [children] absolutely love it,” Ms Keane said, revealing a trolley full of toys donated by the public that she described as “the tools of my trade”.”We’ve got this big boardroom that we turn into a Santa’s cave and it allows donors to come into that area and donate presents, so that’s our major time of the year we receive a lot of presents.”We’ve got a present cupboard where we put the surplus, so any child who has a birthday in the hospital receives a present, but we also use the presents for children who are having a bad time, or we just use them as reward presents.”Big changes over 140 yearsFormer chief executive Jim Birch said some of the biggest changes the hospital had experienced in 140 years included reducing restrictions on visiting hours in the early 1980s.In 1955, for example, parents could only visit children staying in the hospital for two days a week. Mr Birch is also the chairperson for a taskforce examining options for the hospital’s move to a site at the New Royal Adelaide Hospital by 2024.Current chief executive Lindsey Gough said hospital staff were “besides themselves” with excitement about the planned move.”They’re happy they’re going to a new facility, so it’s just about keeping everyone safe, and the quality service going until we move,” she said.In the meantime, the hospital will continue to provide a safe haven for children like Enzo, who gives familiar staff a high-five as he enters the building.Ms Llontop applauded the support they had received from hospital staff.”They do a really good job.” Photo:

Children helped to feel as happy as possibleLike all the children who present at the Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Enzo is made to feel welcome and as happy as possible — nurses paint their faces, Easter bunnies, Santas and clowns make visits, and musicians brighten the soundwaves. He said its inpatients facilities used to be the largest part of the hospital, but due to improving technology it’s now one of the smallest as children spend less time staying overnight.Mr Birch also recalled the difficulties in deciding on the hospital’s name after the children’s hospital amalgamated with The Queen Victoria in 1989.A public competition resulted in suggestions like The Princess Diana Hospital for Children or even the Bluebird of Happiness Hospital, “which was a bit novel”.”In the end, we brought in a guy called Michael O’Reilly, a journalist at The Advertiser, and asked him what he thought we should call it,” Mr Birch said.”He said just call it what it is.”

NF – Why lyrics

I know I like to preach to always be yourself (yeah)
But my emotions make me feel like I am someone else
Me and pride had made a pact that we don’t need no help
Which feels like I’m at war inside myself but I forgot the shells
I hold my issues up for all to see, like show and tell
A lot of people know me, but, not a lot know me well
Hold my issues up for all to see, like show and tell
A lot of people know me, but, they don’t know me well
[Outro]
Too many faces, too many faces, too many faces (ayy!)
Stop askin’ me questions, I just wanna feel alive
Until I die—this isn’t Nate’s flow (woo!)
Just let me rhyme; I’m in disguise
I’m a busy person, got no time for lies; one of a kind
They don’t see it; I pull out they eyes; I’m on the rise! I don’t understand, it’s got me questionin’ like, “Why? Just tell me why”—not back to this flow
Inside I feel divided
Back when I ain’t had a dime, but had the drive
Back before I ever signed, I questioned life, like, “Who am I, man?” Woo! I don’t know! Don’t think I deserve it? (ayy!)
I keep to myself, they think I’m sorta shy, organized
Let You Down’s the only song you’ve heard of? I’ve been doin’ this for most my life with no advice (woo!)
Take my chances, I just roll the dice, do what I like
As a kid, I was afraid of heights, put that aside
Now I’m here and they look so surprised, well so am I, woo! (ayy!)
I don’t trust the thoughts that come inside my head (woo!)
I don’t trust this thing that beats inside my chest
Who I am and who I wanna be can not connect; why? (woo!)
That makes me feel weak and so uncomfortable; why? [Intro]
Too many faces, too many faces, too many faces
[Verse 1]
Yeah, what’s your definition of success? [Verse 2]
They don’t invite me to the parties but I still arrive
Kick down the door and then I go inside
Give off that “I do not belong here” vibe
Then take the keys right off the counter, let’s go for a ride
Why do y’all look mortified? (woo!)
I don’t want no one to know I’m vulnerable; why? Well then you’re behind (woo!)
Story time; wish that I could think like Big Sean does, but I just can’t decide (aah!)
If I should stick my knife inside of Pennywise
[Chorus]
I, I don’t care what anybody else thinks—lies (haha!)
I do not need nobody to help me—lies
I kinda feel guilty ’cause I’m wealthy; why? [Chorus]
I push away the people that I love the most; why? Ayy, yeah
Why you always lookin’ aggravated? You get no respect (woo!)
I just made a couple mil’, still not impressed
Let You Down goes triple platinum, yeah, okay, okay, I guess (ayy!)
Smile for a moment then these questions startin’ to fill my head, not again! Not a choice, you know I had to make it
When they talk about the greatest, they gon’ probably never put us in the conversation
Like somethin’ then I gotta take it
Write somethin’ then I might erase it
I love it, then I really hate it
What’s the problem, Nathan? [Verse 3]
Nothin’ to me’s ever good enough
I could be workin’ for twenty-four hours a day and think I never did enough
My life is a movie but there ain’t no tellin’ what you’re gonna see in my cinema (no!)
I wanna be great but I get it in the way of myself and I think about everything that I could never be
Why do I do it though?
